Slow Down and Discover Your S E L F Worth
VIBE: SLOW DOWN Hello fam,
I’m listening to Sinéad Harnett’s “Body” as I write this just-in-time post about a topic that is overwritten, overexposed, and from my point of view, deeply misunderstood: S E L F worth.
I’ll give you my body,
once again,
but just don’t tell nobody. (Harnett, Body)
Today we’re talking about how to see, value, and understand your S E L F worth, beginning with S E L F. What is it, this word spit all over the internet, across self-help circles, angry breakups, and therapy sessions?
In a hurry? Slow down and dive into this week’s brand new episode.
We also talk about the role self-care has in being able to see your worth and why our value is paramount in bringing our voices and work to the world.
It starts with S E L F.
Worth, also quoted as value, this word tagged on the end of a deeper void within that is our essence. A mirror to our reconciliation with our past and future to the ever-present now.
S E L F is the resilience we require to walk in the world as humans of all shades, colors, creeds, and constitutions.
And I’ll let you in on a little secret. S E L F is fluid. In the grandest sense, think of it as an infinitely empty doorway of whispers and promises, more than a finite measure of something.
Thus, the play of S E L F worth is that while it cannot be contained, it ravishes definitions. And yet, on a human level, on a practical level, definition gives us a way forward.
S E L F worth is an inner knowing, an ever-moving infinity pool of wonder you can rest your feet in and know the truth. What these waters whisper to you, is of your own doing and knowing. One path to these waters is S E L F care.
This episode is coming on the tail-end of a 3 part series regarding a common and favorite vice to distract ourselves from our voice, gifts, and power: relationships, particularly with those who are emotionally unavailable.
When we know our worth, our birthright, the feeling of belonging, our vices lose their strength, and our voices naturally begin to emerge.
This is the power of the artist within. This is the grace of knowing there’s a higher power, a creative god, sitting in the clouds of your own inner knowing saying, “breathe and come home”.
We aren’t meant to play small. It defies our very nature.
In short: you can’t diminish your self-worth. Like the sun, your shine is innate, innovative, and bright.
The journey begins with remembering this, much like the tip of your nose. Always present. Always staring you back from the very face upon which it sits.
Dive into this week’s episode. Thanks for being part of the deeper mission of discovering one’s true S E L F.
Big hugs,
Lalita
