I Imagine a Place Within Me That’s Pure Light

Hey fam,

Grind, grind, grind no more. Friction creates sparks of light, but what allows you to see it?

This is what I know to be true.

We each have and are light. (I talk about that on Lila the podcast here.)

We have dreams in the form of messages birthed from that light.

Then, this is where it seems to get tricky.

How do we listen to the light within? How do we recognize the beat she bops to? Where do we find the music and songs of stillness we already are?

I believe we are all light on a spectrum of depth and brightness.

Big, small, round, fat are all less relevant to a palpable sense of potency, clarity, earthy ness, and savory sparkle. This, to the sensitive and increasingly attuned, can be witnessed with your eyes closed.

I landed in an apartment that was inhabited by a blind man and then immediately furnished by the death of a second blind man. Previously, I only knew three physically blind people my entire life, and here I was, my home to be, sandwiched between two very blind men. Of whom I sensed still had sight

Light is the sight within.

Darkness is the edges, the unknown, the harbingers inside carried without knowing how to release them. They are in fact kindling for your light.

Why am I telling you this, dear one?

Because this past year, and for so much of my own existence, whether by gift or choosing, maligned habit, or force, we have sat in the thick of the dark of our hearts, societies, psyche, and shared spaces.

What’s come of this time that rolls by in isolation? Has your kindling, and that of the collective, sparked any light?

STOP LIGHTING WILDFIRES & CALLING THEM CHANGE

In an attempt to force change, we set ablaze wildfires.

This means that we confuse our light with the fury of wildfires and frequently—often unskillfully— seek to create them. Because that’s what it means to be successful, right?

We seek to artificially exacerbate our own light.

Sit with that for a moment.

Imagine pouring gasoline of 10 universes on our sun so she’ll blaze brighter…

Why? And who do we burn in the process, dear one?

We as humans are adept at superficially charging our growth. So much so that we lose sight of timing. Of season. of trust. Of the wise distinction between wildfires that run rampant and kill, versus the skillful ones ignited to clear the underbrush as an act of self-care for the forest.

One is driven by fear. Neglect. Impatience.

The other by timing. By rhythm. Respect and connection.

The path to the light is forgiveness.

The path to the light is forgiveness. It’s simply letting go. It’s meeting yourself where the bleeding is and sitting with the pain tenderly. Lovingly.

Instead of lighting your pain ablaze (i.e. anger), consider bringing her water from which to drink.

We have kindling, we have light and the bridge between? The transformation so many of us seek, is how we act at the moment, what we give (up), and how we show up to serve.

I realized that in an attempt to avert disaster this year, while dealing with big emotions and fears of chronic illness, I was invited to slow down, listen, and dance differently.

To a rhythm that matches the song amidst the stillness of music that I am.

We are each a song, a note, a space inside a musical production for the ages.

We all have our own rhythms. Honoring that rhythm is how we ignite our own light.

Gentle dreamer and sensitive leader, I urge you to know your song by name and dance to your own unique daily rhythm. Before you lose what riches are truly made of (health and connection). And simply because you’re worth it.

If you want the dream to blossom, you require the right soil and season, friend.

The soil is your daily rhythm

The season is your space

And the blossom

Well, I’ll let you tell me.

Big hugs,

Lalita
