(New Episode) How to Find Your Balance and Why Grind Culture is a Modern Spin on Old School Extremism
Hey fam,
Guess what today is? You guessed it: Lila (podcast) day! And I’m bringing you a brand new episode so let’s dive in.
I’'ve been on voice rest due to laryngitis for the last month. That means no talking, no recording new episodes or singing. I basically sound like a frog on a great day. So I’m doing my best to spread out the episodes and send weekly creative support in creative ways.
Listen to the full episode here.
The truth is that I was pushing myself—and my voice—in a way that was driven by tension, angst and nervousness about messing up and missing out. This feeling is the theme of today’s episode. Keep listening and thank you for your support!
How do you create balance in grind culture where impossible standards are now touted as the new norm?
This week I dive into the impossible to reach standards strewn all over the internet and well-intended spaces like self-help, religion, and coaching.
We talk about the cost of this imbalance and dive deeper into how we’re taught to use extremism as a demonstration of power. Ultimately, this is not sustainable in the long-term nor change supporting in the short-term.
"We’re not meant to grind.” (tweet it + scroll down for the rest of this email)
As always, thank you for listening and being part of this community. Your presence makes a significant difference.
Big hugs,
Lalita
P.S. I’m teaching an upcoming course and workshop in 2021 for creative & sensitive leaders. Specifically, those looking to bring their gifts to the world in ways that are creative, sustainable and honor their unique sensitivity in the world. Being a sensitive leader comes with unique challenges. You may struggle to bring your authentic voice and being to the world due to overwhelm, exhaustion, poor boundaires and no model for how to grow without the grind. In my experience, the current way of doing business is either too woo-woo (like #wtf out of touch) or simply driven by the insanity of believing we as humans are machines (#grindculture). We’re not machines. We have toes. :)
I believe and live by a softer, more middle way approach. So I’m creating a workshop experience so your dreams get to be born, too. In gentle, self-nurturing ways. The experience will be a combination of strategy, creative workshop, ideation, emotional wellness, and purpose so you can launch a dream of your choosing. Or simply be in a space that’s made for you and doesn’t require anything radical of you. You don’t need to know the dream to start. If something worthwhile is calling you, that’s enough. There will be a mix of course material, workshop, mastermind, incubator, and dream catcher. Hit reply and say “I’m sensitive and ambitious” if you’d like to learn more. Early bird specials & group discounts are offered. Group will be capped after energetic capacity is reached.
