It’s about seeing when you’re in a box, and graciously stepping into a boundary.
[Boxes are not the same as boundaries.]
Other people, places and things ask us to check boxes that don’t reflect the essence of who they are.
When I polled almost 1,000 people and interviewed 20+ on the concept of their identity, the vast majority of people identified as their best traits.
Kind.
Smart.
Determined
Curly hair (which to me felt like joy).
Their first and immediate response to the question who are you wasn’t “black, Christian female.”
Why is this relevant for your message and identity?
Because it invites you to first identity your own languages describe who you are. I recommend choosing open, inspiring and uplifting language that feels right.
We use what we’ve been shown. And I think the box model gets to be recycled and turned into one that originates from self and honors your true identity.
Boundaries thus get to be used to define how much “other” will you adopt as truth of who you are.
