A teacher once taught me that our legacy, our continuation, lies in our actions, our speech, and our thoughts.
We often want to make a big splash. We seek popularity, adoration, and approval in the form of metrics that are rationally prioritized. More social media followers or people on your email list matters, right? It’s a strategic, logical step to grow these channels.
Yes and no. When your attachment to the outcome is greater than your desire, your presence, to be here right now, it diminishes your power. It diminishes your effect, your potency, and even your dignity.
Immediate clarity is created when we look at our life through the lens of continuation when we define our legacy as the ripple-effect culmination of our actions, thoughts, and speech. Where to focus our attention becomes obvious.
What relationships need more watering? Which ones have begun to wither?
Which projects require more attention to thrive or survive?
Which thoughts need retiring and which new perceptions would benefit from a solid dose of your love?
By watering your life, you spread your seed of love. Whether you have children, whether the project is successful or not, is less paramount than the realization that you have planted seeds, endless ripples, that will one day grow into trees under which others will benefit from the shade.
Our egos tell us these must be grandiose endeavors. Our minds remind us of the impossibility of the tasks, dreams, or outcomes we seek. When, however, we stand on a middle ground, especially if you’re a high achiever or highly sensitive person, you can see a gentler path before you. One of grace.

What has overgrown and needs to be pruned?
If you were to die tomorrow, what would your garden be made of?
Without judgment, bare witness. From this place, you can make true choices. You have awareness. You’re not blindly feeling in the dark frantically hoping for change, success, fame, a new partner or to finally make it, whatever that means to you.
