"I don't need anybody" is a horrible life strategy. Here's why.

You might think you can succeed all on your own.

You don't need other people to thrive.

It's weak, or expensive, to ask for help.

And everyone seems to be toxic anyways so what the f*ck!

It's easier, it seems, to do it solo.

Or is it?

The truth is that your confidence thrives based on the quality of your relationships.

If you want to be exceptional yourself, surround yourself with exceptional people.

Who qualifies as exceptional?

Exceptional people, as a whole, improve your quality of life. They match your values. You feel inspired and good in their presence. You're nourished and uplifted.

For many people, however, their circles are a product of chance versus curation.

If you surround yourself with untrustworthy friends, disrespectful clients, bully family members, unstable partners ... this eats away at your confidence.

It's a liability.

It doesn't matter how strong, how smart or how kind you are. It will impact you.

Address this.

Understand the nature of your behavior, what you're doing and why you're doing it.

In an age of COVID, many people have opted to go at life alone. Breakups, divorces, lockdowns, and layoffs have led to mass isolation.

And yet, research supports that we thrive when the right people are in our lives.

A quick google search of "I don't need" provided me with the following top-ranked searches:

I don't need other people's approval

I don't need others

I dodn't need no other buddy

I don't need no other I'm satisfied

I don't need no other lover

I don't need no other

We live in a society that glorifies the lone wolf. The truth is that an inspiring wolf pack can build your sense of confidence, not as saviors to the broken and unwilling, but as a real foundation from which to soar.

Confidence is a loop.

It's like an electrical circuit. When you pair with the right people, you create light. When you pair with the wrong people, you short circuit, meltdown, or blow up.

Stop telling yourself you don't "need" anybody. Instead, recognize the power of who you allow into your life and curate that circle.

When you hear somebody boast that they don't need anybody, know that it's fear.

When you see someone calmly, clearly, and discerningly select who is allowed into their world, even if it's no one, that's love.

Fear and a grandiose ego are at the root of not needing anybody. Lack of communication skills and understanding of how to build rapport amplify this fear.

Put simply, confidence is comfort in who you are. Success, and part of amplifying your light in the world, is directly related to who is in your circle.

You need a circuit. You're part of a circuit called humanity.

Care enough about yourself to be in the presence of exceptional people.

Care enough about your wellbeing to become exceptional yourself.

Confidence is a circle, a feedback loop.

Who's in your circuit?
