How to get referrals, speaking gigs and everything else
People you've wowed and that trust you. Communities (or circles) you've shown up in time and time again to serve and lead.
Sharing ideas that you deeply believe in, that people can relate to and that equally scare them and that are passed around within and beyond these groups by the people you continue to wow.
Being generous with your time and resources because you believe it will be really valuable for everyone involved.
You begin selling long before you sit down to have a conversation with a prospect. It doesn't much matter the industry, the task at hand or the people involved, it's all the same.
So, the idea is to:
Find people who care and wow them. Do it because you want to not because you expect that they will owe you something.
Share your ideas with those people in a way that helps them and educates them. Maybe you're showing them a perspective that they never considered.
Create community around those people and give them reasons to meet and grow with one another.
Be generous not because you want to win favor but because your generosity shows you're in it for the long haul. Because you are, aren't you?
Do this well and the people that want to be near you, learn from you, work with you, hire you to speak and anything else magnificent under the sun will begin to be more than you can handle.
